Day 184 - Garage Floor Poured

Day 184 and the garage floor has been poured. Although it's very cold outside, we are heating the garage so the cement cures appropriately. The first cement truck showed up about 9:30am and the entire job took about one and a half trucks.

Day 183 - Moving Slowly

It's day 183 and john and I are on break from work. We are prepping the garage and basement for the floors to be poured soon. We ordered our fireplace and the rough mechanical work has been started.

Day 148 - Cold Weather

This weekend brought slightly warmer weather but it also brought rain. The weather keeps delaying our roof but we are getting there. We burned all of our windows boxes and some wood scraps, trying to keep the lot clean and organized. 

Day 142 - It's Snowing

It's day 142 and we have snow! It's bitterly cold too, which is slowing down the final finishes of our roof. 

Here is a shot from this weekend. We spent two days cleaning up our lumber scraps. 

Day 122 - Electrical box installed

Today the electrical meter box was installed at the house. Leave it to john to get the commercial grade box for our home. Today our front door was delivered as well. The white construction door will be used until we are ready to install the finished door, this protects our door from the construction activity. 

Day 120 - Windows in!

Last Thursday (Day 116) the windows were finally installed. The carpentry crew finished up the final details by Friday (Day 117). The roofer came over the weekend and finished most of the house roof. He will come back next weekend to finish the garage roofing.

Day 109 - Rainy Weather

It's day 109 and all this week has brought so far is rain! The past Sunday the roofing crew finished a good portion of the roof. 

John and I began the drain tile in the basement so we spent the weekend full of mud! 

Carpenters should be coming on Monday to finish setting our lovely windows! 

Day 104 - Roofing Material Delivered

It's day 104 and our roofing material was delivered to the lot. Tomorrow the crew will come to begin the roof while we begin the drain tile for the basement.

Day 101 - Roofing Chosen

It's day 101 and we decided on our roofing shingles. Roofing material should be delivered Friday and our roofing crew will begin work on Saturday. 

Day 99 - Beginning of Windows

It's day 99 and the crew began this past Friday by installing the windows. Unfortunately, bad weather came and they were only able to start on one window. 

The sun came out today and hopefully the weather holds out tomorrow so the crew can finish the windows. 

Day 96 - Framing Finishes

It's day 96 and the crew completed the staircases for the garage to basement, garage to bonus room and first floor to basement stairs. The crew also completed the floor for the bonus room and began the arches for the entry ways.

Looks like the weather is supposed to be pretty crappy tomorrow so windows probably won't be installed until next week. Check back for updates : )

Day 95 - Finishing Touches to Rough Framing

 It's day 95 and the carpentry crew worked on finishing the hand framing required in the master bedroom and dining room. They also started building the stairs for the basement and removed the 2x4's from each doorway.
